AT 9AM FROM THE NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER IN MIAMI...
TROPICAL STORM ROSA FORMS WELL OFFSHORE OF MEXICO...
Tuesday, October 30, 2012 10:01 AM MST Tropical Storm Rosa has blossomed from Tropical Depression 17E this morning. The system is only forecast to achieve tropical storm intensity as it wanders around the Pacific well to the southwest of Baja California Sur. The system is currently located about 725 miles southwest of Cabo San Lucas and is forecast to move west, then turn to the southwest and have little affect on any land mass.
Tropical Storm Rosa is currently located near 14.5N 116.5W and is moving 290° at 6kts. Central barometric pressure is estimated at 1004Mb and winds are 35kts with gusts to 45kts, making Rosa just barely a tropical storm. Tropical storm force winds extend out as much as 60 miles and 12ft seas about the same. Rosa is forecast to be a weak and short lived storm, which should peak late today or early tomorrow before moving into cooler waters. Rosa poses no threat to Baja.
Since this late season system poses no threat to Baja or landfall in Mexico this page will only be updated if the situation changes.
