Tropical Storm Irwin is dissipating off the southwest coast of the Mexican mainland. No further updates will be posted to this page until historical data is available.

Thursday, October 13, 2011 7:47 AM MDT Irwin regained a little intensity this afternoon but remains a Tropical Storm. TS Irwin is currently located some 620 miles southsouthwest of Cabo San Lucas and forecast to continue a eastward motion through Wednesday and never mature to much of a system as it follows in the path of Jova.

With the dry air mass over the Baja peninsula and extending several hundred miles south, a landfall of a tropical cyclone this late in the season is unlikely. The good news in this latesst forecast is that Irwin may turn south and dissipate before reaching the SW coast of Mexico which is currently being punished by Hurricane Jova.

Tropical Storm Irwin is currently located near 14.9N 114.2W and is moving 95° at 7kts. Central barometric pressure is estimated a 1003Mb and winds are 45kts to 55kts, making Irwin a Tropical Storm. Tropical storm force winds extend out as much as 75 miles and 12ft seas extend out as much as 210 miles from the storm center.

The next update to this page will follow the 9PM release from the NHC or when the storm status changes.
