October 4, 2009 7:45 AM MDT Tropical Depression Olaf has dissipated and the remnants are about 80 miles WNW of La Paz Baja California Sur. The area is continuing to stimulate rain and thunderstorms in the region. There is a low chance that the storm will regenerate over the warmer waters of the Sea of Cortez before reaching the mainland.

According to the NHC, the system is currently centered about 125 miles west of La Paz. However, reporting this evening from La Paz, the heaviest rains from the storm have already moved to the east.

At 9PM Tropical Depression Olaf is currently located near 24.1N 112.3W and is moving 85° at 12kts.Central barometric pressure is estimated at 1002Mb and winds are 25kts with gusts to 30kts. The system is forecast to past directly though La Paz later tonight and early tomorrow with strong winds. Most of the precipitation associated with the storm may have already moved through the La Paz area earlier this afternoon.

TD18E was upgraded to Tropical Storm Olaf at 3PM on 10/01/09. TD18E formed on the morning of 10/01 from a tropical Low that had moved west from the mainland coast over the previous week. Olaf was downgraded to a tropical depression late Friday.
