CENTER OF THE POORLY-ORGANIZED ODILE APPROACHING THE MANZANILLO AREA...
A TROPICAL STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM LAZARO CARDENAS WESTWARD TO LA FORTUNA. A TROPICAL STORM WARNING MEANS THAT TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED WITHIN THE WARNING AREA WITHIN THE NEXT 24 HOURS.
10/11/2008 10:41 PM MDT Tropical Storm Odile is moving NW along the southern coast of Mexico. TS Odile is forecast to turn west into the Pacific and dissipate to a tropical Low by mid week. TS Odile is about 65 miles SSE of Mazanillo, Mexico.
Tropical Storm Odile is currently located near 18.2N 103.8W and is moving 300° at 10kts. Central barometric pressure is estimated at 1005Mb and winds are 35kts with gusts to 45kts. Odile is forecast to move to the WNW over the next couple of days and turn to the west into the Pacific where cooler waters and sheer winds will break the storm apart and it should be history by mid week.
The system that spawns TD16E has been nearly stationary for 5 days. TD16E was upgraded to Tropical Storm Odile on the evening of 10/8. The forecast flirted with Odile becoming a hurricane and heading in baja Sur's direction early in development, but that now seems unlikely
There will be no further udpates to the Information above on Odile unless the potential threat to Baja Sur changes.
