Tropical Storm Lowell, on the evening of 09/06, formed from an area of disturbed weather that had been moving west from the mainland for about 36hrs. Lowell continued to strengthen slowly through the day of 9/7. Lowell had it's up's and down's on 9/8, but started to show signs of weakening in the early hours of 9/9. The system maintained strength through the day as it slowly turned to the NNE on the evening of 9/9.

Lowell was downgraded to a tropical depression at 6AM on the morning of 09/10. Lowell made landfall sometime in the late evening of 09/10 and worked its way across the peninsula in two directions. The majority of the rain from the system went to the west of La Paz and entered the Sea of Cortez near Loreto. The center of circulation moves east and passed south of La Paz to wander in the Sea of Cortez for part of the day on 09/11. The system will move ashore on the mainland side of the Sea tonight and dissipate over land.
