09/02/2008 10:03 PM MDT Karina has been down graded to a tropical depression about 280 miles SW of Cabo San Lucas. The storm is forecast to remain weak, due to upper level winds and wander about the Pacific SW of Baja until dissipating sometime this weekend. Karina is not expected to affect Baja weather.
Tropical Storm Karina erupted on the morning of 7/2 from an area of disturbed weather that had been moving west from the Mexican mainland. TD Karina is currently located near 20.0N 112.9W and is moving 295° at 6kts. Central barometric pressure is estimated at 1002Mb and winds are 30-40kts. TD Karina is forecast to remain a tropical depression through the weekend as it moves harmlessly west into the Pacific.
Upper level wind shear that first inhibited the development of Karina is also responsible for her demise. These upper level winds are forecast to continue make redevelopment unlikely.
Tropical Depression Karina is not forecast to become a hurricane or affect Baja California Sur weather in any significant manor. Karina is not forecast to reintenisify.
