Tropical Storm Gil - Eastern Pacific 2007


Information on Tropical Storm Gil

09PM MDT 08/30/07 Tropical Storm Gil is hanging on to Tropical Storm status some 430miles SW of Cabo San Lucas The TS Gil's current position is 19.1N 115.3W and motion is 265°at 09kts. Central barometric pressure is estimated at 999Mb and winds are 40 with gusts to 50kts. Gill

Tropical Storm Gil formed in marginally favorable waters, just more than 100miles from the 26°C thermo cline. TS Gil is believed to have passed peak and will move into colder waters and begin to dissipate through the weekend. TS Gil should continue westward and enter cooler waters and begin to dissipate some time over the weekend. Landfall of this system is not likely.

Tropical Storm Gil evolved Wednesday evening from Tropical Depression 10E. TD10E formed some 250 miles SW of Cabo San Lucas on Wednesday morning. The storm is expected to be short lived and will not present any threat of landfall according to the current NHC forecast.
