Hurricane Hector is well beyond the threat window for Baja Sur. Hector is headed off into the Pacific, where it is expected to dissipate next week without making landfall. The graphics and text warnings below will be automatically updated on issue from the National Hurricane Center.

10AM MDT 08/17/06 Hector has been upgraded to Hurricane 1 status as it churns harmlessly off into the Pacific. Located near 14.7N 121.1W and is moving 290° at 11kts. Central Barometric pressure is estimated at 979 and winds are 75kts with gusts to 90kts.

Hector formed from tropical depression 9E on Aug 15, near 13.0N 114.1W. At the point of storm formation 9E was already too far west to be of much concern to Baja Sur.
