Information on Hurricane Otis

02PM MDT 03/10/05 Otis has been downgraded to a tropical depression as it slowly travels parallel to the Pacific Coast of Baja Sur. The storms current reported position is 25.6N 113.4W and movement is 330° at 6kts. Central barometric pressure is estimated at 1005Mb and winds are 25kts with gusts to 35kts.

Current forecasts indicate the storm continue motion to the NW over the next 72hrs then slowly turn to the WNW. The storm has remained virtually motionless over Sunday.. Otis is expected to deliver another 1" to 3" of rain along Pacific coastal areas of the northern portions of Baja Sur

The Insider office in Cabo San Lucas has clearing skies as of 2PM Monday.

As this system weakens the threat to Baja is reduced. The landfall of Otis on Baja that was forecast since Friday has now been revised, with the storm passing west of Punta Eugenio and out into the Pacific. Otis will cross the 26°C thermo cline today, making regeneration unlikely.

Tropical Storm Otis passed it's peak with Saturday with wind speeds of 85kts when located about 130 miles SW of Cabo San Lucas.

TD15E formed from a large tropical disturbance that had been building off the coast of mainland Mexico. The system stretched from Manzanillo to Acapulco and had been delivering torrential rains to coastal areas there. The storm developed cyclonic activity despite it's proximity to land and unfavorable wind conditions.
