Tropical Storm Kay / Hurricane Kay Eastern Pacific 2004

Information on Tropical Storm Kay.

10/5/04 05PM MDT Well, Kay was short lived, at least for the time being. The latest forecast downgraded the storm back to a tropical depression. The storm is currently located about 690 miles southwest of Cabo San Lucas. At 02PM 10/5 the storm was located at 115.2N 116.6W  with movement 285° @ 11kts. Barometric pressure is 1006mb and winds are 30kts with gusts to 40kts

The depression is currently experiencing northeasterly shear, so the good convection is only occurring in the southern quadrant. This should continue to impede development over the forecast period. Development, if any, is expected to be slow to occur.

It is not anticipated that this storm will pose any threat to Baja California.
