Tropical Storm Georgette Eastern Pacific August 26-30, 2004

Historical Data: Max Winds 50kts Tropical Storm
Tracking Info

Information on Tropical Storm Georgette.

Tropical Storm Georgette had several runs at attempting to become a hurricane, but cool waters and an easterly shear wind kept Georgette from ever attaining hurricane status.

The storm's max winds were 50kts as it turned west and headed out into the Pacific Ocean. Peak wind speeds were recorded on the 27, 28 and 29 of August.

At 2PM PDT 8/26 the National Hurricane Center declared Tropical Storm Georgette the seventh named storm of the 2004 Eastern Pacific hurricane season. The storm's high altitude wind shear, inhibiting it's strengthening on Thursday, continued on Friday, keeping Georgette from achieving hurricane potential. Georgette absorbed another tropical disturbance south of Cabo San Lucas on 8/26 but due to unfavorable development conditions did not reach the forecast hurricane status.

An upper lever ridge slowed the storm late Friday and may cause a slight shift to the north during Saturday. The storm is expected to enter cooler waters by 8/29 and begin to diminish. on August 30, the storm was downgraded to a tropical depression and dissipated in the Pacific.

The storm had little affect on Baja weather.
