Tropical Storm Estelle formed 1275
miles ESE of the Hawaiian Islands
Estelle struggled to achieve tropical storm
status on the morning of August 18, 2004. Shear winds prevented Estelle from
gathering additional strength in the warmest waters. On August 22, Estelle
was downgraded to a Tropical Depression
Landfall of this storm is not expected at
this time. Forecasts continue to indicate that Estelle will pass south of
the Hawaiian Islands and begin degrading within the next 24 hours.
Estelle is now in the forecast region of the
Central Pacific Basin.
