La Paz is the seat of government for Baja California Sur, one of the oldest cities in Baja and the most affluent city per capita in Baja. The Islands and bays surrounding the city are natural treasures. There are a great many places you can still find a beach to yourself. La Ventana, located less than 45 minutes away, is world famous for it's windsurfing conditions in the winter.
