Nopal – A cactus commonly known as the “Prickly Pear Cactus", found throughout Mexico and some of the south western United States. It resembles large prickly paddles (pencas) with small red “apples” (known as Tunas), a fruit that represented human hearts to the Aztecs. It has been used a food source for many years and is now being included as a health supplement in many different ways.
