Contra La Delincuencia
Mexico Unido is a Mexican National, non-profit (AC Association
Civil) organization that is to fight for the rights of all those that
are victims of crimes. It is an organization that was chartered nationally
on November 11th, 1997 to fight for victims rights of serious
crimes (crimes grave), educate and assist all peoples (foreigners included)
in the legal process, raise the awareness of corruption in the government
and currently establish a neighborhood watch. This has become a necessary
service as the police and judicial system are over whelmed at times
and aren’t capable or in some cases not interested in doing their job.
Mexico Unido or United Mexico is here to help all victims
of crimes not only here in Los Cabos or Baja Sur but all of Mexico.
Officially founded in 1997 this organization is trying very hard to
put light on those subjects of corruption and help those that have been
victims of crimes.
Unfortunately, or the reverse depending on how you look
at it I was the victim of an attempted mugging in Cabo. No, this does
not mean that Cabo San Lucas is now an unsafe place to travel, but it
is time for all of us who live or travel in Baja to do something before
this becomes the case. Unfortunately, as in any area in the world that
is growing as fast as the Los Cabos region in Baja California Sur, these
types of crimes begin to happen.

It
is no secret that most of Baja Sur and especially the Los Cabos region
depend on tourism. Without it none of us would have a job; including
“locals” that may only have a small store or are a mechanic in an area
that only sells to the “locals”. The “locals” would not have money to
spend if it were not for the tourist.
Mexico Unido is also here to help fight the corruption
in the legal process to help assure that the criminals are brought to
justice. Unfortunately as many of us know there is a fair amount of
corruption in the legal process here in Baja Sur, as well as most of
Mexico and Mexico Unido is here to put pressure on the judicial process
to be sure that these criminals are prosecuted to fullest extent of
the law.
This
has become a rather important organization in ensuring the safety of
all people including locals, foreigner residents and tourist. Unfortunately,
due to the local corruption in Baja Sur, there are times when the police
and or Ministerio Publico (similar to Public Defenders office in the
U.S.A.) just can’t; or don’t want to do their job without being paid
a bribe (Mordida) to do the job they are already paid to do.
