México, D.F., February 28 2008. On his way to Baja California Sur, the kayaker Abraham Levy, who has embarked on a ecological journey covering 11 thousand kilometers of the coasts of Mexico, announced he is on his way to the CostaBaja Resort and Marina in La Paz, to write about the natural wonders of the region and to update his personal logbook on the best the Sea of Cortez region offers.
He is close to arriving in La Paz, after navigating through six different states of Mexico in the Gulf of México, the Caribbean and the Atlantic Ocean. The Mexican adventurer said that the beaches of the Sea of Cortez have a unique beauty in all the country that is reflected by the variety of landscapes, marine species and the warmth of their inhabitants.
“In these beaches, I have found natural spectacles like in no other state of the Republic, this is what motivates me to visit CostaBaja Resort & Marina and to explore the surroundings and to discover the wonders that La Paz offers. Here are unique species in all the country and is worth it that all we know them.”
Levy, 27, has plans to arrive this Sunday, March 2, 2008, at the Beach Club of CostaBaja Marine Resort where he will be received by the media and will share his experiences and ecological message. Abraham will enjoy the best services of the Pueblo Marinero at Costa Baja:
"I have kayaked with whales, mantas, turtles, and journeyed by mangroves, deserts and calm beaches. This has allowed me to know the beauty of Mexico. It is important that all Mexicans do our part to continue maintaining our beaches as clean as the inhabitants of La Paz do.” The last stop for Abraham, before arriving at CostaBaja, will be in the Island Espiritu Santo, one of the 37 Islands in the Sea of Cortez that have been named a national reserve. Both Mexican and the international visitor who appreciates diving, snorkeling, camping, sailing and obviously kayaking will be able to enjoy through the first class services offered by FunBaja, office located in Pueblo Marinero at CostaBaja.
CostaBaja invites all to follow his progress through his page http://www.abrahamlevy.com/ and find news, photographs and videos of the most impressive events of his journey, which is a remarkable experience without precedence. The demands of the trip require physical and mental training to sail 30 kilometers a day, 10 hours day in a kayak of only 5 meters of length, 58 centimeters wide and a weight of 25 kilos.
"The greatest challenge of my journey consists of maintaining my physical and mental strength. In this sense the nutritional plan with vitamins, Ginseng and Gingko Biloba that my nutritionist recommended to me, gives the piece of mind that I will sail without misfortunes, conserving my energy and mental concentration,” said Abraham.
Of equal importance, Levy is in optimal physical condition thanks to the specialized training that he received from Sport City. The kayaker is part of the program for scholarship athletes, whose purpose is to support and to offer quality tools to outstanding sportsmen of different disciplines so they can fulfill its objectives.
Abraham can only carry in his kayak up to 146 kilos - including his own weight. That capacity is quickly used up with the latest technology that will allow him to fulfill his navigation objectives, communication, defense, location, hydrate and feeding. These items include: Coleman camping equipment, cellular telephone Nokia N95 with GPS to update his website, satellite telephone Globalstar, personal location radio, stove, Solar cells, all terrain Merrell tennis Shoes, life jacket, knife of survival, an oar, cereals, powder milk, water, fruit and dry meat, among others.
