It was a brisk evening in La Paz as the restaurants of the resort property hosted a Restaurant Walk for about 25 members of the local press. Representing television, radio and yes, online media from the BajaInsider , media guests were treated to the fine dining delights available in this unique and beautiful location.
Located just 7km from downtown La Paz the restaurants at CostaBaja are raising the bar in dining out. Guests at the resort location have four restaurants to choose from, each with its unique taste offerings, without ever having to leave the property. For other guests to La Paz the short drive to the resort community is well worth the effort.
The evening restaurant walk began at the five star resort hotel in Steinbeck's. Overlooking the marina the dining experience began with appetizers on the veranda. The group was welcomed by Arturo Peña (CostaBaja's Director of Operations) as the guests sampled the appetizers presented by chef Alejandro Villagomez. Although only a distance of a few hundred meters, the group was transported to the Marina village where the other restaurants waited to please the pallets of the press.
Sample entrees were served by Azul Marino, which specializes in contemporary cuisine. Azul marino has been popular with visitors and guests to La Paz for several years. As a frequent guest, I highly recommend the cuisine as sisters Margarita and chef Christina Kiewek provide an ever changing menu of weekly specials that makes each visit a new taste treat.
The third stop was just paces away at Odayaka Sushi. As a former food photographer I have always found sushi not only a treat for the pallet but for the eyes and other senses as well. Head chef Rosendo Rendon and the staff of Odayaka out-did themselves with both taste and presentation. I have eaten sushi around the world, and each country adds their own spin to the originally Japanese design. Chef Rendon has elegantly blended the original sushi concepts with a Mexican flair.
The Restaurant Walk's final stop was at the Italian style restaurant La Barcaccia where deserts were served. The pastry offerings of chef Andrea Statzu and an aperitif were a luxurious end to the taste tempting tour. The members of the press delighted in the presentation and flavors of the fine Italian deserts.
I have had opportunity to dine at all these restaurants on occasions other than this tour and can recommend them all very highly. Each restaurant has its own special atmosphere and taste, but all share well trained and courteous staff and beautiful vistas will you dine. Without doubt your culinary experience at CostaBaja Resort it worth the short drive from town.
After diner you can stroll the marina and work off a few of the delicious calories provided. Perhaps after you visit you may even decide to immerse yourself in the CostaBaja Resort lifestyle.
