Janet Rocher of Rocher Beauty Center in Cabo San Lucas is not only about hair styles but how your whole lookmakes you feel better. Janet herself a true beauty that speaks English very well, has been working as a hair stylist and makeup artist very hard since she was 16 years old. Helping many celebrities or those that wish to look like a celebrity; feel better and have more confidence in themselves.
Here Janet gives BajaInsider a chance to learn more about her and where she learned her artistry as a hairdresser and makeup specialist for the celebrities of Mexico and from all over the world.
Interview with Janey Rocher of Rocher Beauty Center of Cabo San Lucas
BajaInsider - Please tell us how you began?
Janet Rocher - It was 13 years ago in Mexico City
BI - Where did you study?
JR - In Barcelona at Escuelas Europeas and in Mexico City at the same School
BI - How long have been in Europe?
JR - My mother lives in Barcelona, she’s from Spain, for that reason I’ve had been in contact with both continents and on an average, I spend 3 months a year in Europe.
BI - Why did you choose this career?
JR - I was looking for something to do in my life, something that was fulfilling in my life and I found this profession which I love and now more than ever I really love what I do.
BI - What happened when you finish your studies?
JR - I started working in a family friend’s salon and suddenly I was part of fashion shows, invited by El Palacio de Hierro; it was on these big events where I started my career as a professional hair dresser and makeup artist
BI - When you started your professional career, did you work with an expert or were you an apprentice of someone?
JR - Due to my doing a good job in these events, I started immediately as a professional hair dresser; I never was an apprentice, as they get the best people for these types of events. I used to dress the hair of 15 different models on 
average and it was on these shows where I met Eduardo Gaset, who is one of the most recognized makeup artists in the industry in Mexico. He choose me to work next to him, so while I was dressing the hair of a model he was working on their makeup, we had great success due to the talent we both had to create different styles.
BI - What is your philosophy about the world of fashion and your art in it?
JR - Well, I love to create and propose different looks I love to be bold, to have challenges and definitely be different.
BI - How did you succeed in this difficult and competitive career of fashion shows?
JR - Just doing my job, doing my best at all times trying to conceive the perfection, giving the best of me, because of this; the people in the industry always categorized my work as very good art.
BI - What feeling do you have when you are to be able to help someone change their image?
JR - I really love to help people to look and feel more beautiful than what they were, to contribute to this feeling on its own, the change for me is an incredible feeling.
BI - How do you define the profile of your salon? What type of clients do you want to have?
JR - The style of my salon is simple, natural and at the same time luxurious, private and personalized with a fresh elegant ambience, to create confidence and comfort in the clients and provide a high quality of service. I want toreach everybody; those who want a change in their image, to be pampered and don’t have someone else they can go to. I will make them look like a magazine cover star, in accordance to their profession or lifestyle; I will treat them and help them feel like one day super stars.
BI - How do you improve your knowledge and techniques?
JR - I participate constantly in fashion trade shows and seminars from the best brands to update my techniques, that’s how I know what’s going on in the world of fashion shows and I remain inspired.
BI - Why did you choose Cabo san Lucas to establish your salon?
JR - First for personal reasons, then I discovered that there are not too many places to really help people with what’s going on currently in the fashion business; especially with the new tendencies and trends.
BI - What type of services do you offer?
JR - Haircuts and styling of course, as well as hair tinting, dying, highlighting, makeup, pedicure
s and manicures. We also offer facials and full body massages. Many of these services we can come to you as well; so if you like to have me or my staff come to your villa for some private attention just call or email us.
BI - What is it that makes you so passionate about your work?
JR - My job in general, the smiles in my clients faces; their satisfaction when they decide to make a change and I can create wild and fun styles for them to enjoy and help feel good about themselves.
BI - Which is the most special memory that you have so far?
JR - My entire life that I dedicated to the fashion world, every second, and the friendships I have with many artists who believe in me.
BI - Who are some of the people for whom you are working before?
JR - There are so many, musicians artists, actors and actresses that I can’t count them, it is easier to me to mention that I’ve been in charge of different TV shows at Telemundo, Televisa, Columbia Pictures, CBS News, commercial spots for Maybelline, Nestle, Danone, Ponds and 
10 different magazines, so during this process I worked for a ton of different artist.
BI - Your experience is based only in Mexico?
JR - Yes most of the time I’ve been here in Mexico, however I have worked in other places like Chicago, Barcelona and Prague, working on advertisement campaigns for L’Oreal or doing videos for different companies.
BI - What is your next step, what would you like to do?
JR - I have a lot of goals to achieve but first I want more people to know about me and continue to have the success that I expect, then I have some proposals from people who know my work and want me to start as a production assistant.
BI - Is your salon available only for women?
JR - Not at all, it is available to everybody. It’s funny because I love to get in touch with men, as most of them live with the same haircut for years, probably it was cool in the 70s 80s or who knows, I love to know more about what they do and then use this to create a good look for them. I would love to see men wearing wigs as in the past, I consider that men in the past used to care more about their appearance than nowadays; it is ok for men to take care and feel good of themselves.
BI - What tip will you give to those people who don’t decide to make a change of their image for years?
JR - That they have to be enthusiastic, experiment, change with the times and take the opportunity always to look and therefore feel much better!
BI - Our own experience of Janet’s services was very impressive as she pays great attention to detail; from the warm lavender towels she puts over your eyes to relax you during a shampoo, to offering just about anything you may like to drink, while she really did give both us a new younger look. It was a true pleasure to be so pampered and we look forward to returning to the Rocher Beauty Center very soon.
