BI: Are your rentals good for families, couples or more for larger groups like business meetings or corporate retreats?

Susana: I would say all of the above and maybe just small corporate retreats.

BI: We all know that doing business on the end of this great 3 sided island (as I like to call it) can be difficult. What are some of the major concerns or difficulties in providing quality services here in Los Cabos?

Susana: This is something that is changing very rapidly. We have to remember that until a few years ago, Cabo was a sleepy town, not very many quality services. With the growth of the town, the quality service outlook is very positive.

who, for 18 years has held executive positions in customer service related companies in Mexico. Most recently she was the Los Cabos representative for the North America Leisure Group, the largest travel company in the world.

Mike, currently the Consular Agent for the United States of America for the state of Baja California Sur, Mexico, has worked in Latin America for the past 25 years including 13 years in Los Cabos.

Both Mike and Susana are completely bilingual and bicultural, firmly established in the Los Cabos community. They bring a professional client-oriented approach to the luxury vacation market. Following is an Interview with the owner Susana Bancalari

BI: What do you feel sets you apart from the rest of the vacation rental companies?

Susana: Our service is very personalized. I own and manage the company. My company is one of the few Villa rental companies who is actually in Cabo San Lucas. We have an established office with real people available to assist our clients.

We can respond to their questions or problems in a more efficient manner because we are in Cabo and in the case of Pedregal, a few steps away. Anyone who answers the phone will be able to give you accurate information about a specific villa because we all personally know the houses.

BI: Susana where are you originally from?

Susana: My family is originally from Mexico City. I grew up in a town called Matamoros in the north eastern part of Mexico, where my parents were living at the time I was born. At age 16, we moved to Mexico City, which where I really feel I am from.

BI: Why are you here in the Los Cabos area?

Susana: I always knew I wanted to someday live in a beach town. As a professional living in Mexico City, I had the opportunity to travel to most beach destinations for business. Mexico has such beautiful beaches; it was difficult to make a decision on which one to choose. I feel the combination of the dessert and the ocean was what made me decide on Cabo. There is something very peaceful and beautiful about it.

BI: What are your objectives in your business?

Susana: Our major objectives is to create a world class experience for the discriminating traveler. We would like to make each traveler feel they are arriving to their own home away from home. We can make them feel this way because the villas are real peoples’ homes. Each individual owner has created his own unique getaway and together with our services, we can provide an unforgettable escape. We help match our guests to the right location for their needs and tastes

BI: How do you choose the Luxury Villas that you have available?

Susana: Location is important and the villa itself must meet our specifications which include maintenance and amenities.

BI: Are all of the Luxury Villas you rent in the Pedregal in Cabo San Lucas?

Susana: At this moment, most of them are in the Pedregal area, but we have added some in other developments like Palmilla and Cabo del Sol and we are looking for other areas too.

BI: Are the Luxury Villas you rent available through other companies or are they exclusive to your business?

Susana: Most of them are available through other companies but we have some that are exclusive.

BI: Will you rent just anybody's Villa or what are the qualifications necessary that you feel that makes a good rental?

Susana: Besides beautiful and unique, good overall maintenance of a villa is an important thing on my list in order to accept a villa on our web site. The amenities are also very important. The more toys in the house, the more attractive it is for rental.

BI: Who maintains the Luxury Villas you have for rent?

Susana: I like to have villas that are managed by us, because we have things in our control. I would say most of the villas are maintained by us, although there are other property managers which we work with, who have the same high quality standards that we do.

BI: If a Villa is not well maintained by your standards do you then drop them for your service?

Susana: I would like to think that I will not have to drop a villa because from the first interview I have with an owner; this will be the condition for me taking a villa in the first place. If for some reason an owner would stop, then yes, I would drop the service.

BI: I see that you have many extra services and amenities available such as chefs, custom food baskets, activities bookings, masseuses and a concierge's service. Do people really take advantage of these services?

Susana: There are so many advantages in renting a Cabo Luxury Villas versus staying at a hotel. You can rent a beautiful villa and in the privacy of your home away from home, we can bring all the services to you. Most clients reserve these services before they arrive. Once they arrive, we take it from here. All they have to do is relax and enjoy their stay. They do not have worry or rush or confirm. Everything is taken care of.

BI: What gives you the greatest enjoyment in your business?

Susana: There are so many things that give me enjoyment in my business. I will mention the top ones on my list:

1. Preparing a villa for an arrival. Making sure everything is perfect when we walk through each room, the decks and gardens, checking every detail.

2. Meeting the clients after so many months of emailing each other and hearing them say that the villa is even better than the photos on our web site.

3. Knowing that they had an unforgettable vacation.

BI: Since you have been in operation for awhile now have you found that you have very many repeat customers?

Susana: I am very grateful to say, yes. We have been building our repeat list of clients.

What better recommendation could any one have?

BI: I noticed that you have several staff here in the office and possibly others, what all do they do to ensure a great vacation service?

Susana: I have to say I have a great team. Everyone has their own specific responsibilities but we all help each other making sure our clients are well taken care of, in their Cabo Villa rental. I also think it is all about communication. We all try to have a very clear picture of our clients needs. We personally answer their questions, we make sure they know who to call if they need any assistance and most of all; I make sure my staff is friendly but professional.

BI: What happens if a customer has a problem in one of the Villas let say during the weekend or the night when your office may be closed?

Susana: They will always know who to call. We check our answering service over the weekend and they can always call the security gate. Someone from my office will call the villa as soon as we receive a message. We try to respond on a timely manner.
