Hurricane Ignacio Hit La Paz Aug. 2003.

It was the first of two hurricanes to hit La Paz in the 2003 season. Unfortunately, it was only a pre-amble to the destruction that was to come three weeks later. See extensive photo coverage of the La Paz area.

Surf Camp Devastated by Ignacio

(09/03) The San Pedrito Resort was heavily damaged by the flooding rains of Ignacio. Within minutes the water rose and surprised the summer caretakers. But days later work was already underway to prepare for the fall tourist season.


Rains Brought Outbreak of Dengue

(9/03) The southern tip of Baja experienced an outbreak of Dengue Fever. Dengue is a mosquito-borne infection which is rarely fatal but in recent years has become a major international public health concern
